Ouritsu Uchuugun: Honneamise no Tsubasa S01

Shiro, also known as "Shiro", may be a space officer at the Royal Space Force (RSF), but he has not been in space yet - in fact, no one has. RSF is usually considered a failure by both citizens and the government, which is more interested in fighting wars with neighboring countries than in scientific progress. After the funeral of one of Shiro's officers, a listless Shiro takes a night stroll through the city and runs into Rico, a young and pure-hearted woman who is passionate about space exploration. As they spend more time together, Rico's courage inspires Shiro to volunteer for a space mission, which would likely make him the first human from Honimizu to be in space. Shiro and RSF soon join a team of scientists and engineers, and together, they have a mission to succeed in their country's space program. However, their efforts quickly attract the government's attention, which seems to have a different plan for RSF. Even when the odds are against them, these men and women stubbornly look up at the sky, because perhaps in space, humanity's last hope for redemption exists.
